Why Reynolds?

This site is primarily dedicated the alternative music scene coming out of Reynolds High School during the early 1980's. With all the contributions I have been receiving it will likely expand to a "Victoria Rocks!!" site but I had to start from the perspective I knew best. The Reynolds punk scene had more than its fair share of punks. Since various members of the early Punk pioneer bands such as Pink Steel, Neo's first bassist Gary Kirk and the Infamous Scientists attended Reynolds we were rightly influenced. We got to see these bands playing in the High School auditorium for talent shows! This site currently focuses on the great bands and music that came from our graduating class of 1984.

Infamous Scientists at OAP

As Reynolds Valedictorian

In the early 1980's the Victoria Punk scene was impacting every youth in the city.  There was a time when all-ages concerts were happening every weekend.  Who can forget the all day gigs at the OAP for $1.50!  I think the first local "punk" gig I saw was "The Keys" performing at the Metropole which was a used clothing store on Johnson St. in the fall of 1980.

Do you have some great punk gig posters decaying in a box somewhere?

We're looking for old concert pics taken from gigs in Victoria during the early 1980's.

Drop me an email with your comments, corrections and/or contributions.

Thanks - Larry

Can you find yourself in the crowd?

Out Of The Blue

Friday night after work, I rode my bike up to Wally World to pick up an unnecessary treat. This is what you do on Friday nights when your drinking and smoking days are over. I was walking down the aisle when I spotted Jungle Reggae from the Do-wops (legendary early 80’s Victoria hardcore punk band).
